The Car-Truck That Could — 1970 El Camino SS 396 in Red at 1/24

The 1970 Chevrolet El Camino SS 396 is one of American automotive culture's most unique creations — the utility of a pickup truck fused with the muscle car performance of the Chevelle SS. With the 396 cubic inch big-block V8 under the hood and bold Red with Black Stripes livery, it's the El Camino at its most purposeful and aggressive. Motormax's 1/24 diecast replica captures every distinctive line of this American icon.

The Story Behind the Model

The El Camino SS 396 occupies a unique place in American car culture — it's equal parts car and truck, offering the hauling capability of a pickup with the performance credentials of a Chevelle SS. In 1970, with the 396 big-block V8 and the SS performance package, it was genuinely fast. In red with black stripes, it looks exactly like what it is: a muscle car that can carry a load. Motormax captures this brilliantly at 1/24.
