The Story Behind the Kit

The Mustang Mach 1 scene in Diamonds Are Forever is one of the Bond franchise's most celebrated car moments — the big-block fastback threading through Las Vegas traffic in a sequence that was genuinely thrilling for 1971 audiences and remains iconic today. The 1971 Mach 1 was Ford's performance flagship of the era: a 429 cubic inch Super Cobra Jet V8 option, a fastback body with the distinctive honeycomb grille, and a hood scoop that meant business. AMT's model kit captures every detail of this Hollywood hero car.
